A Stunning Extra Large Reproduction Bookcase

This is a gorgeous and very large reproduction bookcase, shelf unit made from solid mahogany and finished in blue with dark highlights to create a wonderful texture effect.

There are 5 shelves with a sixth level on the bottom making plenty of space for lots and lots of books and ornaments. All the shelves with the exception of one fixed in the middle, are removable if there is a need to store any extra large books or ornaments.

This would sit perfectly within a home office or lounge and with very large proportions will definitely be the statement piece of any room.

As with all my furniture restorations, the bookcase chest has been sanded smooth before painting. I then painted 3 coats in Napoleonic Blue (a kind of royal blue) and then added clear and black wax to create a textured finish across both the outside and the inside shelf area. 

Finally, the whole chest has received 2 coats of Polyvine dead flat varnish to seal and protect.

The colouring and ageing techniques we use during the restoration process also add to the individual style.
