Painted French Oak Drawers

This is a gorgeous French carved oak Luis XV style chest of drawers hand painted to create a heavy patina. 

A very heavy & strong piece of French made furniture, built to last and now with a decorated patina to give it a beautiful rustic look that would sit perfectly in both a country farmhouse or contemporary interior.

Following an ancient method for mixing paint by creating the pale blue colour from natural pigment, the finish has then been distressed to give it an aged look by lightly scraping back to make the under coat of gesso visible below the two top coats. It was then waxed across the entire piece first using a soft velum wax and then a final heavier wax that has been brushed on to ensure it works through to the wood grain below wax for protection.

Please note that all our restored furniture is of a certain age and over the years has picked up knocks and scrapes which add to each piece's uniqueness. The colouring and ageing techniques we use during the restoration process also add to the individual style.
