A really lovely old pine cupboard that I have stripped then repainted in keeping with its age and style.
This wonderful cupboard has come out of an old public school in Leicestershire and after many many years of use in the old science lab, it is now restored, cleaned and ready for your home or retail space.
It's made from a heavy pitch pine with two drawers to the top and two good sized cupboard doors to the bottom opening up to a double inside shelf.
The top I have left stripped back to the pine leaving all the old burn marks from years of bunsen burner activity. Just imagine how many experiments have taken place on that lovely top.
I've painted the sides and front borders in an off white Victorian milk paint and for the doors and drawer fronts I used a beautiful deep blue casein based paint that gives an aged look and suits perfectly the age and ware of this piece.
Note that the bottom doesn't not have feet or detailed plinth. The base sits back slightly from the front & side edges. This was done to stop the wood from rotting when the floors would have been washed every day. This gives it such an authentic and rustic feel.
