Small Side Table with Storage

This was originally a small commode that would have been commonplace in every home at the beginning of the 20th Century.

A simple yet very useful piece of furniture, it can now be used today as a side table or perhaps a plant table but as you can see from the photos, once the lid is opened it has very useful storage.

I decided to paint the outside in Oxford Navy by Annie Sloan and then darken it with Graphite to create a textured effect which when you get up close almost looks like a suede or plush velvet due to the change in colour tones.

For the inside I chose a bright red to add depth and a little been of fun.

As with all my hand painted furniture I finished off with 2 coats of clear wax and added black wax to enhance the tones of the navy and graphite even more.

The inside is all waxed with clear wax and everywhere has had a slight buffed sheen finish.
It has then been sealed with Polyvine to protect.

Please note that all our restored furniture is of a certain age and over the years has picked up knocks and scrapes which add to each piece's uniqueness. The colouring and ageing techniques we use during the restoration process also add to the individual style.
