Hand Painted Pine Chest of Drawers with Geometric Pattern

This is a lovely medium sized pine chest of drawers that has been thoughtfully painted to create an aged and chippy finish in keeping with a very popular style of furniture in many homes today. There are 4 equal sized full width drawers ideal for all types of storage.

The chest doesn't have too much age. probably made in the 80s or 90s, but the artistically painted styled finish really adds some fun to this very practical piece of furniture.

I chose a geometric pattern to paint the front of each drawer and then hand painted each of the round knobs as well as the top and bottom borders.

The colour for the main body is Old Violet by Annie Sloan and the lighter areas are in Chicago Grey, also by Annie Sloan.

As with all my furniture restorations, the chest has been sanded smooth and painted with a single undercoat before receiving the top colour layers. The whole piece has then been waxed with clear wax and then darker wax staining has been added to the edges to add the feeling of a lived in piece of furniture.

Finally, the whole chest has received 2 coats of Polyvine dead flat varnish to seal and protect.

This is a beautifully restored and hand painted chest of mahogany drawers with 2 smaller drawers over 3 graduated drawers below.
Made at the turn of the last century when furniture was made by cabinet makers from solid woods like this mahogany example.

The chest is of large proportions (see sizes) with deep drawers. Perfect for all your thick winter woolies.

As with all my furniture restorations, the chest has been sanded smooth and painted in a stunning turquoise with clear and dark waxes added to create a lovely shadowing effect across the drawer fronts.
The top has been painted in graphite and buffed with clear wax.

Finally, the whole chest has received 2 coats of Polyvine dead flat varnish to seal and protect.

All good and ready for another 100 years of use.

The colouring and ageing techniques we use during the restoration process also add to the individual style.
